As the Battle Hymn of the Republic played in the background while Steve Sandstrom gave an outstanding speech to approximately 7000 Tea Party goers.
Presenter Steve Sandstrom is a lifelong Dayton resident and businessman (He is co-owner of Miami Valley Annuity). He firmly believes the only hope for our nation to preserve its greatness is to reject dependence on government and reverse the current policies of ever-higher taxation and ever-growing wasteful spending. One of his children recently served in Iraq as a member of both the Army and Navy.
Steve starts out, “I’m mad as hell, you mad as hell? I’m nervous as hell.”
He begins with a little history lesson about King George III and his taxing effect on peaceful men of the United States. He says, “They were decent god fearing people, like you and me. But they lived under the yoke of tyranny. For decades they were forced to pay outrageous taxes on everything they owned and everything they produced. King George III gave them 2 choices, pay or be imprisoned. These were men of peace, but they decided they would rather die than pay taxes to an unjust ruler. You know what happened next.”
Make the decision today to stand up for your country and challange those who are opposed to your point of view. Not with anger, but with truth. Not with your fists, but with your facts. This is a war of ideas and we have the superior weapons.
Here are the words to the first verse of the Battle Hymn of the Republic:
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
